Junior / Mid DevOps Engineer

Role

We’re looking for a developer with exposure to DevOps processes to join our team to support the growth of our internal OTT solution.

This is a full-time, hands-on role, which will see you expanding and improving our existing infrastructure codebase using modern infrastructure-as-code (IaC) patterns.

You will work with our development teams and technical architects to help shape, design, build and roll out our Front End OTT solutions and projects, ensuring it meets both users and business needs while keeping a level head and a positive attitude.

Our dynamic and energetic team of 50 is based in the beautiful Bentima House in Old Street, close to the hustle and bustle of Shoreditch.

Responsibilities

  • Managing an AWS stack with support from technical architects and internal team lead.
  • Liaising with hosting partners in order to triage issues regarding deployment and hosting of our solutions.
  • Attending workshops with clients and internal teams in order to gather requirements for deployments and hosting and helping with the creation of roadmaps so that the solutions can be delivered effectively.
  • Looking for ways of improving the efficiency of our current DevOps infrastructure and presenting potential solutions to Internal Team Lead.
  • Staying up to date with latest advances in AWS technologies and attending workshops and conferences as advised by Internal Team Lead.
  • Reporting back to Internal Team Lead regarding our operations and potential bottlenecks or blockers that may arise.
  • Experimenting with new hardware and new technologies that could benefit our infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Knowledge about best practices regarding InfoSec.
  • Some experience with AWS and bucket management, specifically S3 and Cloudfront.
  • Some experience with CI/CD systems.
  • Understanding of different environments in the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with debugging systems and understanding of common HTTP errors.
  • Knowledge of web technologies such as CDNs, web browsers, DNS, SSL, etc.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A keen desire to learn and better themselves, with a curious nature.
  • Expectation to work in the office at least 2-3 days a week as hands-on work with hardware will be required.

Desirable

  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD.
  • Use of AWS CDK to create AWS deployments.
  • Exposure to niche AWS technologies such as code building on AWS cloud and Amazon Timestream.
  • Experience in production in deployment to Kubernetes.
  • Exposure to Parallels/Virtual Machines and iOS deployments using Fastlane.
  • Exposure to code signing for applications.

    • In light of the pandemic, FX Digital is currently operating on a hybrid working model, meaning that our team has the option to work from home but days in our London office will sometimes be required
  • Salary: Depending on experience, in between £35k-45K / year
